Instructional Video | Augmentation in the Aesthetic Zone

Takeaways

The surgical protocol for Augmentation in the aesthetic zone can be performed with or without a provisional

  • When using a provisional maryland bridge – Augma Shield™ is placed on top of the graft, but suturing is not mandatory as the provisional holds the graft and coverage in place for the healing period
  • When the area is left exposed and nothing is placed on top – Augma Shield™ must be sutured following the suture sequence to prevent graft wash out

Step by Step

  1. Extraction and socket debridement
  2. Activate the syringe by pushing until the first piston reaches the line
  3. Eject the cement into the site
  4. Press firmly over the cement for 3 seconds using dry sterile unfolded gauze and finger pressure. Followed by another 3-second press with a periosteal elevator
  5. Remove excess material. After cleaning, use a damp gauze to moisten the area
  6. Suture papillae to papillae
  7. Prepare Augma Shield™ by cutting it to size
  8. Place Augma Shield™, and press firmly for 5 seconds
  9. Secure Augma Shield™ in place with cross stitch sutures
