A healthy 64-year-old woman presented with complaints of pain and discomfort when chewing. The patient no longer liked the aesthetics of her old fixed rehabilitation, supported by 4 natural teeth with mobility. The patient wanted a new aesthetic rehabilitation but was reluctant.
During the intra-oral exam, it was found that the patient had advanced tooth destruction of tooth #17 (2), with mobility throughout the bridge that was only really supported by 3 teeth. The bridge had to be cut near tooth #16 (3) (inclusive) and the root of tooth #17 (2) extracted. The crown of tooth #25 (13) was also infiltrated and about to fall and at the patient’s second appointment it had already fallen out. The patient decided to proceed with the total rehabilitation of her maxilla.
